Is Katy Perry Related to the Queen?

There are numerous reasons why people might wonder why some celebrities are related to one another. It isn’t uncommon for people to ask the question when two famous people look quite like each other, for example. If two celebrities share the same last name then it won’t take long before search engines are inundated with people wondering whether or not they are related. Sometimes, as in this case, the question about familial relations comes about because of much more tangential links, causing people to ask whether someone like Katy Perry is related to Queen Elizabeth II, in spite of the evidence to the contrary.

Who Are We Talking About?

The chances are slim that you don’t know who Queen Elizabeth II was. Similarly, anyone who has listed to modern music over the past decade or more is likely to know who Katy Perry is. Even so, sometimes it is easy enough to get confused about different celebrities or even, in some instances, different members of the Royal Family. As a result, we’ve taken a closer look at the protagonists of this question here:

Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson was oven in Santa Barbara on the 25th of October, 1984. The daughter of Pentecostal pastors, Mary Christine (née Perry) and Maurice Keith Hudson, she moved across the country with her parents as they set up churches in different places. She would sing in the church as a child, eventually moving to Los Angeles in order to start her singing career. She enjoyed some minor successes, but really hit the big time when her album One of the Boys was released. This was largely thanks to the song I Kissed a Girl. She went on to become one of the best-selling music artists of all time, selling more than 150 million records worldwide.

Queen Elizabeth II

It is fair to say that it isn’t easy to sum up the life of the longest-reigning monarch in the history of England. Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born on the 21st of April, 1926, becoming Queen on the 6th of February, 1952. Over the course of her lifetime, she was Queen Regent of 32 sovereign states, remaining the monarch of 15 realms until the moment of her death. That was on the 8th of September, 2022, at which point England as a country lost its collective mind and no one was quite sure how they were supposed to react. Born in Mayfair in London, her paternal grandfather was King George V. She was replaced as monarch by King Charles III.

Are They Related?

It is fair to say that no many people would make the assumption that Katy Perry and Queen Elizabeth II were related. If you were to go off the casting of the various monarchs in the Netflix TV series The Crown then you could maybe imagine that the younger Elizabeth looked a bit like Katy Perry, but other than that there is no real link. It seems that many people decided to ask the question in the wake of Katy Perry being asked to perform at the Coronation Concert of King Charles III. It seemed that many couldn’t understand why else she would be performing if not for some sort of family tie to the Royals, with the actual answer being that she met Charles and Camilla in Mumbai in 2019. Katy Perry is also unrelated to Luke Perry & Matthew Perry.
